In Justin's first book "Oatmeal v Bacon How to Differentiate in a Generic World," he established the ultimate branding metaphor bacon is interesting and oatmeal is boring. In "Human Bacon," he applies the Bacon principle to personal brands -- identifying seven specific traits that are common with interesting, connected, and respected people. While directed at men over 40, the elements of "Human Bacon" are universal for anyone interested in being awesome, satisfied, and successful. Blending experiences of his personal journey with practical tools and exercises, Justin provides an outline for finding your talent, being authentic, embracing technology, communicating effectively, becoming an influencer, managing first impressions, and having a life-long youthful mindset.
Whether you are just starting your career, are seeking that next promotion, or are self-employed, "Human Bacon" contains the thinking and tools for discovering and developing what makes you BACON. The result? A respected personal brand, a great reputation, and a legacy of awesomeness.
"Human Bacon" is a North American Book Awards winner.
Human Bacon A Man Guide to Creating an Awesome Personal Brand eBook Justin Foster
This is not your typical business book. I used to read a lot of business books. But after a while I got tired of them. Most of them say basically the same things, use most of the same worn out statements (using different "clever" analogies) frequently use the same examples, but rarely give you actionable advice. And every business book is 100-200 pages too long. The only reason business books are as long as they are is because that's the length publishers can charge the most money for. It has nothing to do with the value of the content inside.Justin's books are short and packed with value. You can read Human Bacon in a few hours, yet spend days or weeks working through the assessments and guides in the book.
I enjoyed Justin's first book, Oatmeal vs Bacon, but this second book demonstrates a business author and speaker coming into his own. If you're a Gen X guy, you need to read this book. If you know a Gen X guy, you should buy this book for them. Even if you're not a guy, or part of Gen X, but needing a personal branding refresh, this is an excellent read.

Human Bacon A Man Guide to Creating an Awesome Personal Brand eBook Justin Foster Reviews
How can you let the world know you're awesome -- without coming across as a self-promoting jerk?
Men (and women, too) who are TRULY awesome (i.e., "human bacon") are powerful and respected without having to even open their mouths or speak a word. Their presence radiates confidence and authenticity.
They know how to dress, they're on top of technology, they're well-connected, and most importantly, they're genuine and they own their values.
Justin is a living example of "human bacon" his heart, his presence and the energy of his character fills up a room. If there's anyone to take advice on personal branding and awesomeness from, it'd be him.
If you've always known you're awesome but others don't seem to see it -- if you used to be awesome but you think you've lost it -- or if you've never felt awesome but would like to become awesome -- then read this and learn to own (and ooze) awesomeness no matter where you go -).
This book was written for men (particularly men over 40), but the concepts apply to anyone of any gender, young or old.
Human Bacon is a short read by Justin Foster that teaches you the fundamentals of personal branding. It’s an interactive book, one that will challenge you to look inside yourself – to be brutally honest about who you are and what you have to offer.
Branding is one of those things too many people never think about – or don’t think about until it’s too late. All the talk about logos, core values, and “brand identity” can seem wishy washy to some people. Yet as any Fortune 500 marketing director will tell you, strong brands rule the world. There are deep, important, and powerful reasons to get branding right.
This is equally true on the personal level as on the corporate level. In both cases, brands connect our core values and beliefs with our communications; they connect our mission and purpose with our products. They provide context, meaning, and feeling. Great brands inspire customer loyalty while weak brands die off silently in the background.
We live in an era where individuality is coveted, success is desired, and authenticity is desperately needed. Human Bacon can help you with all three. Justin will encourage you to discover your individuality and express it in an authentic way, paving the road towards happiness and opportunity in your personal and professional life.

Fun book. It takes an hour to read and will provide a year's worth of stuff to do. Lots of good ways to get your shiz together.
Human Bacon is a fantastic book! I encourage everyone to read this book and truly take the message to heart. This especially goes out to those Gen-X'ers (like me) looking to re-energize our careers and personal lives. Justin Foster does a great job of explaining what the heck happened to many of us that have seemingly lost our ways and gives the strategy to get back on track. Justin's style of writing is excellent and makes this an easy and fun read.
Just finished Human Bacon and it feels like the good feeling you get on a Sunday morning after a nice brunch (that always includes bacon BTW). Justin, in his typical witty, humorous and at times irreverent style makes his point about being intentional about our personal brand. Highly recommend this book to everyone that is a brand, which is everyone (You'll learn that if you don't already know by reading the book). Very practical advice on things not often written about including personal style, presence, social media, technology, and relationship management.
Justin Foster rightly asks "If we aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, then why do they have covers?". There is a lot of talk about persona branding out there and lots of advice - good, bad, and meh. Foster uses a conversational style to lay out the basics of what personal branding is about.
It doesn't matter who you are or what life stage you are in (though Foster recommends this particularly for Gen-X men), you will find accessible and practical advice in Human Bacon. And you will find that a little attention on the "cover" as well as the guts is well worth the investment in your brand.
After setting the stage of what a personal brand is and what are the things that traditionally stand in your way, Foster outlines key determinants of your personal brand in Talent, Style, Communication, Authenticity, Influence, Technology, and Youthfulness. He strips away some of the nonsense behaviors and thinking in each of these areas to get at the core of what each of these is about.
And make no mistake, if you want to ride your talent, that's great - but recognize you are missing the boat in the other areas. If you aren't sure what that means, you really need to pick up this book. Lay off the video games for about an hour and get through this book. And take advantage of the calls to action Foster includes in the book - they will help you bring to life personal branding concepts in a very tangible and sustainable way.
This is not your typical business book. I used to read a lot of business books. But after a while I got tired of them. Most of them say basically the same things, use most of the same worn out statements (using different "clever" analogies) frequently use the same examples, but rarely give you actionable advice.
